About
Hidden away in the corner of Dorset, is the Isle of Purbeck, one of the most outstanding areas of natural beauty and the home of the Purbeck Trail Series. Now in its 12th year, The Purbeck Trail Series is back for 2025!
Starting with the Coombe Keynes 10k on 23rd June, and now finishing with the Blue Castle Run on 9th November, the Purbeck Trail Series is a challenge for runners of all standards!
The Purbeck trail Series is a partnership between the six race organisers who also fund the prizes.
There are no additional costs apart from the races' standard entry fees. Runners entering any of the races will automatically score points for the Purbeck Trail Series - the more races you enter the more points you earn! (only your best 4 results will count)
As well as individual prizes for the winners, there will again be a club / team prize; The total points scored by the best 4 runners* of each team or club will be added together, to decide the winner
(*It doesn't have to be the same runners in all races, but all male teams wont count. there must be a minimum of 2 ladies in each team for the results to be included)

The 6 Races
22nd June 2025 - Coombe Keynes 10k
Run on a scenic and undulating course within the historic Lulworth Estate. From tracks on chalk downland to woodland paths there is outstanding scenery for the whole race.
7th September 2025 - The Beast
The 12 mile (ish) race starts and finishes on Corfe Common, Corfe Castle, and takes in part of the Jurassic Coastline as well as the infamous steps at St Aldelms Head.
21st September 2025 - Black Hill 10k
This rural & hilly 10k runs through ancient woodland and historic cattle droves, and past the delightful hamlet of Turner's Puddle, starting and finishing in the fields behind Bere Regis.
A tough event that races over heath land and sandy beaches, in the beautiful location of Studland Bay. The 12k route offers stunning views of Agglestone Rock & Poole Harbour.
9th November 2025 - Blue Castle Run
This 7 mile trail race begins and ends at The Blue Pool near Wareham. With woodland trails, hills and heath, a castle and the opportunity to run around the Blue Pool at the start and finish.

Prizes
Individual Prizes.
A maximum of Four results for each runner count to decide the prizes.
If you compete Five or Six races, only your best Four positions will count.
Points are awarded for each position in all the races regardless of gender.
The winner of each race will get 500 points, 2nd 499 points, 3rd 498 points etc.
Every place counts so there is incentive to get ahead of the runner ahead be it man or woman.
What are the prizes?
The prizes will be unique trophies with a local flavour awarded to:-
Top three overall men & women.
Top under 40* men & women
Top 40 something* men & women
Top 50 something* men & women
Top 60 something* men & women
Top 70 plus* men & women
One prize only per runner.
* Age on date of the first race.
Special Prize - In addition we have a special commemorative award for every runner completing all the races
Club / Team Prize
The total points scored by the best 4 runners* of each club / team in all 6 races will be added to decide the winner of the Team Shield for 2022.
(*teams must consist of no more than 2 men. This means teams can now be all ladies, 3 ladies and 1 man, or 2 men and 2 ladies. You can have different runners represent the team in each race)
Each runner's club/team is determined by the club/team they run for in their first Purbeck Trail Series race, after which it is then fixed for the entire series.
What does it cost and how do I enter?
Nothing, just enter one, two, three, four, five or all six of the races and you'll automatically be included in the Purbeck Trail Series but the more races you enter the more you'll score.

A. Some of the races permit Dog-assisted entries, but these do not count towards the Purbeck Trail Series, sorry.
